Papito's STORY

Our

STORY

My husband and I were raised in a little bitty small town 92 miles north of Amarillo, Tx by the name of Spearman. We were raised humbly, but never wanted for anything, especially food. Our mothers did plenty of cooking. Simple, hearty, but delicious meals cooked with love just like the mothers before them. Mom always said, it's not the ingredients, but the amount of love put into a recipe that makes it delicious. I couldn't agree more. In February 2004 she opened her restaurant in my hometown, La Familia. It has been one of her greatest achievements. February 2022 she officially entered retirement, and closed La Familia's doors. We continue to honor her hard work and continue her legacy of the American dream with Papito's Mexican Restaurant.

Jose & Sylvia Tarango

We have been married for 24 years and have 4 wonderful children(ages 24, 18, 16, and 12), 2 German Shepherds (Kortez and Kardy), 2 cats (Jimmy and Dawg), 2 cows (Shady and Snow), 1 Longhorn (Mac Brown) and some hens (we didn't name those). We moved from Mustang, OK where we lived for 6 1/2 years and met some pretty awesome people. However, we found our dream home in Purcell, and that is where 2 of our children, Chloe and Jose, attended school.

Maria, Chloe, Jose, and Dominic

Maria works the family business by helping us with the day to day operations and she loves music. If you have ever been behind her in her Jeep, you can see her dancing and singing at every red light! We just cannot forget her significant other Chanyn, who is the branch manager at FNB Midwest City. Chloe is a Freshman at Southern Nazarene University and is an avid Rugby player for the SNU Crimson Storm. She's tiny, but mighty! Jose, or Pito as we lovingly call him, is a soon-to-be Senior at Purcell High School and is active in football, weight lifting and any other sport they will allow him to play. Dominic is in the 6th grade and loves sports, but runs like his momma! Poor boy!
